Some. Say they like a 6 string guitar but I think 7 makes you more versatile. And for bass, anyone that plays a 4 stringed bass is a poser and not a real bass player. My ideal band would have a 8 stringed bass guitar and a 7 string guitar for a total of 15 strings. Then you could add another set of strings for a second guitar but have it all high end so there's only 6 strings like a normal guitar. That's brings the total to 19 strings plus a drummer and the band will rule.

If you intend on playing it like an actual fucking instrument instead of a glorified fart noise generator, go right ahead and grab a 7 or 8-string guitar or a 5 or 6-string bass. 3-guitars: Two 7 strings and one 8-string. That's what we use. I have 3 octaves on the 8 and broader scales. Whatever your 6 can do, my 8 can do better. Pretty faggy eh?

6 and 4. If you need to go lower, just tune the whole thing down and/or use a longer scale.
