I came across this band, Gallows Hill. They have a song called "Lament Of Immortality" and it's a total rip-off of Cradle Of Filth's "Thank God For The Suffering"

And on top of that, they totally ruin it with a horrible never ending solo.

You must have never heard the song, They have the same bass line and melody. I bet if you played both at the same time they would even be in sinc.

wait till the distortion kicks in. It's unmistakable

I've read your myspace blog, you were talking about your feelings and putting bigger plugs in... I'm thinking you already are homosexual...

"oh, look at all your colorful hats!"

the new unearth album is fucking sick, but ive been pretty much listening to meshuggah now that i picked up their new one.
i love how the only bands you diss are MA bands who got big. I think someone is a tad bitter.

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Jul 6,2004 10:51am
I can bash meshuggah if you want.

toggletoggle post by silky  at Jul 6,2004 8:41pm
I don't know who I hate more, unearth or meshuggah.

either way you're still dissing a band who's at a level that your label can't bring your bands to.

toggletoggle post by mike_fod at Jul 6,2004 9:26pm
If I didn't like either, i'd just stop listening to music.

Hey all...Gallows Hill's guitarist here...

I've actually never even heard of that song (the only Cradle albums I've listened to are 'Dusk and Her Embrace' and 'Cruelty and the Beast'...afterwards, they kinda lost me). So there's no way I could've ripped that song off. I barely even like Cradle of Filth.

As far as the 'never-ending solo'...I dug it and everyone who I played the track for dug it. To each their own, I guess.

I'm no longer working with that particular singer, nor is the keyboard player in the band. The latter is in a group you may have heard of called 13 Winters

hilarious that people find stuff like this.

Fuck, we were planning on changing Dissector's sound to a total CoF inspired band but it look likes somebody else beat us to it.

That's funny. Really.

There is no bassline. We've never had a bassist in our lineup.

Besides, I wrote "Lament..." THREE YEARS before "Thank God For The Suffering" was released. Kinda hard to rip off something that didn't exist.

In all seriousness, it's good that you don't!

What's also hilarious is that the song had been online for 3 years when this post first came up, speaking of history. Unfortunately, BeSonic went tits up and the song is no longer there. If you want to know how I ended up bringing this old post back up, speak with me privately, Reverend.

But no, Gallows Hill wasn't inspired by Cradle of Filth. In fact, the influences I was channelling initially were bands like Moonspell, Paradise Lost, Inkubus Sukkubus, Nosferatu, and Black Sabbath. The mood I was going after with that long, drawn out solo at the end of "Lament..." was actually inspired by the Moonspell song "Full Moon Madness".

Anyways, long-story-short, there'll be a new version coming out MAAAYBE by the end of this year. I'll actually be keeping the criticism of the solo in mind for the new version (I'll likely fade it out a lot sooner than I did). The song'll be the same, but it'll sound quite different.

I'll tell you right now why he brought it up. Kevin LaBlanc (I mean Kevyn, oops...HA!) is pissed his band went under when roy left to form 13 winters. he's had a personal vandetta for 4 years and instead of getting off his fat, pleather panted ass and do something with his own band, he's decided to devote his time undermining roy's.

Gallows hill didn't have a bassist because Die wouldn't play bass for you. You also don't have a drummer because Mike refused to drum your... what were the words he used? "Queer fucking SHIT!"

you're one to talk about Roy "sticking it" to Die when you've stuck it(or at least tried) to every singer gallows hill had. That's why you kept losing singers.

You said you sucked 11 years ago? Here's a reality slap, YOU STILL DO! That's why you go kicked out of your last two bands.

I've seen personally the amount of nasty shit about you. Roy could have used it to mudsling you like you are now but he didn't. He chose to move on. You need to get a life.

p.s. 666-stringer = lucifer_rising (Oooops!) So it's kind of funny you talk to yourself in another thread like you do in real life.

toggletoggle post by 666-stringer at Apr 25,2005 8:53am edited Apr 25,2005 8:53am
First off, lucifer_rising ISN'T me.

Secondly, it's obvious you have an agenda.

You claim that you've "seen personally the amount of nasty shit"...yes, there are SOME nasty things I'm not proud of. But I've not tried to "stick it to" any of our vocalists. In fact, the only singer that quit the band was Michelle, and not because I ever propositioned her. I was only kicked out of one of the bands I was in (and no, it's probably not the one you're thinking of).

You know nothing, chris m. (I know exactly who you are). Yes, I brought up an old grudge, and I admit I was wrong there. However, I've not "had a personal vendetta for 4 years"... First of all, learn to spell. Secondly, in the THREE years, I've only thought about him a few times.
