I've got a dying urge to go to a real fucking arcade. Like the ones from the 80s or early 90s. What's the best arcade around here that has a LEGIT old school gaming section? I'm not talking about Cruisin' World and all that shit. I mean real arcade games. Like the old Ninja Turtles, Space Invaders, Golden Axe, etc.
Behold, the worst fucking arcade game ever made:
I feel bad for anyone that wasted tokens on that game.
yeah yeah it's on the other side of the country but Ground Kontrol in Portland, OR is amazing. I was in there for like four hours getting hammered and playing Smash TV and Dig-Dug by myself. it was the sweatiest I have ever been
Yeah, no shit. Arcades is were we used to go and chill and just play random people. Video games don't have to mean sitting on your ass and "hanging" with friend online. I miss them.
I was about to mention Funspot. I'm totally taking a trip up there sometime this year, I just gotta save a good chunk for it. It'll have to be a multi-day pilgrimage, knowing me.

A friend of mine is coming up from Houston just for Funspot in March
I miss the old Fun n Games in Framingham. Back in the day, when it was a dark, smoky dungeon made to look like the inside of a spaceship (down to the double sliding doors on the way inside). That place was the balls when I was a kid, then over time it got gayed up when they took a huge chunk out for lazer tag, then more out for little kid games, then they spaced out the games by reducing how many they had and finally they redid the whole place so all the space shit is gone, it's well lit and has a fraction of the number of games it did when I first went there. All the character of the place is gone.
I spent probably hundreds on the little shit-ass "arcade" that the totally non-criminal guys who owned the "feed store" in Uxbridge set up. (90% sure all of these games came off the same mysteriously missing truck.) Games included:
Double the fuck Dragon
Golden Axe II
Toobin'
Some fucking tank game with two joysticks that was hard and awesome
pinballs-
Fireball - FUCKING AWESOME, would buy now if I saw it for so many reasons - not least of which is the crazy spinning section in the middle of the table that made your ball do crazy physics-defying shit (but the big ODIN and WOTAN and shit all over the place doesn't hurt either)
Guns n Roses - great for obv reasons (blares GnR at you when you score and also when you don't do anything, or just generally all the time) and actually a legit table to boot
Whatever medieval castle one that was like everywhere and was also pretty good
You don't even wanna know how much of my dad's coin collection I sank into Toobin'. LOL

what the fuck, im surprise no one mentioned X-MEN in the thread yet, that fucking arcade game was the shit. i think it had at least 4 players if not more, with the two monitors pushed together cuz they couldnt manage to have one big screen in an arcade back in those days.
that shit fucking ruled, we always used to play it, and everyone would fight not to be stuck as "Storm" haha.
used to play that shit back in the day at Dream Machine, you know what im talking about tony

the X-Men arcade game is on X-Box Live Arcade if you have a 360
Big Bertha at Great Times was great for grabbing armfulls of plastic balls and dumping in her mouth with your friends while the staff took a cigarette break only to come back and find out you have 6,000 tickets to cash in for $4 worth of candy.
