New site? Maybe some day.

pretty much anyone that does anything vintage or ironic for the "cool" or "look-at-me" factor. Obscure indie bands and pseudo-intellectualism are also big parts of it as well as finding places (bars, cafes, hang-outs) no one knows about and then subsequently bitching about how it's not cool now that everyone knows about it. |

I used to breathe back when it was cool to do so.... now everyone's doing it... so... it's a little less rad now. |
man, it's impossible to read anything this guy writes. every sentence is either liberal this or conservative that. he projects everything into either category, using his perception of the definitions of each.
also, he gives hipsters too much credit, as if they even know what role they play in a political or social machine. does he think they will go away if he keeps writing about them? |
I also like how semantics evolve. Since when does "liberal" mean having one point of view, that view being that everyone is equal. I know a lot of people who call themselves liberals who probably fit into that generalization, but I feel the word implies, or should imply a general openness to new thoughts and ideas, and a willingness to weigh them against established values.
Also let's face it pretty much anyone on this forum could be described as a hipster... Obscure bands, discussions some might suggest are "pseudo intellectual" a propensity to hang out at dive bars, a secret or not so secret love of the band Woe (who I realized I like because they sound like the weakerthans with screaming and slow blast beats...
and preemptively fuck you all for disagreeing ;) |
I thought a hipster was just anyone who was accused of being one and denied it. |

Sounds like "hipster" could be replaced with communist or terrorist. |

love pbr. can't afford better beer i like. |
i think the thing that infuriates me most about hipsters is how they give bad names to good beer. High Life and PBR especially. |

THIS X1000. Gansett is infinitely better than PBR. |

Gansett is far more effective in providing drunkenness than any other beer I know of. |
I know some High Gravity Blacks who would contest your statement, Lampinski |

I'm not huge on high life, but I definitely go for PBR before any other cheap beer. Definitely beats Bud Light and shit like that. Does that make me a hipster? |

Wait, I had no idea gansett made a porter. That excites me. |

drinking delicious beer does not make you a hipster. if hipsters had been around when PBR showed as Best Select in 1875, they would have been burned at the stake for being faggots. |

Talking about the best shitty beer is like talking about the shiniest turd in the toilet. |

well yea...stop being so testical |
cheap =/= shitty
shitty = bad
"Good shitty beer" is an oxymoron. |
PBR, High Life, Narragansett = shitty beer but 'good' when compared to Natural Ice, Ice House, Genesee |
Piss and Gasoline is good when compared to Genesee |
We're arguing semantics. If you like it then it isn't shitty, just cheap. I see what y'all are saying though. |
I fuckin love Jagermeister |

That's my definition of liberal, but what do I know...I'm just a liberal. AND A WOMAN.
I like expensive beer and showers, I think that takes me out of hipster territory. |
I bought some Narragansett Porter because of this thread. Haven't cracked it open yet but I'm sure I will eventually, looking forward to trying it. |
My self proclaimed "Hipster" friend doesn't fit any of this. He loves The Faceless, Obscura, BtBaM, Muse, and all other matter of Prog/Tech Death/Alternative, nothing super obscure and Indie. Or maybe he's pulling the ultimate irony? |
I'm into David Myatt, riffmongering, post-misogyny and being handsome... what's that make me? |
