Fallout 3 was good but an abomination of the series. Thankfully FO: NV is being developed my some of the same team from FO1/FO2. It is going to be 10000 times better than Fallout 3.
This. There are some of the original developers involved, yes. However, they're using the same game engine as 3, same v.a.t.s. system and combat engine, and betheseda (so?) Is stop footing the bill. This is just a sequel to fallout 3, not a return to the original.
haha its not the same as 3. graphically yes, but other than that they are making it more like what FO3 should've been, a next gen version of FO2. the skill/perk/ability system is the same as fallout 2, much more in depth and will effect the game MUCH more than 3's system ever did(3's MMO mechanic was non-existent). aiming can be done with iron sights. every piece of armor, ammo and item can be modded 100 different ways. you can have multiple companions/followers like FO2. multiple implants can be obtained to permanently increase skills and stats which is much more plausible than those bobbleheads.
people will still cry about it anyway.
for anyone that doesnt know,
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/ this game can be ALOT more than what you bought it as..

Exactly why I play games like this and Oblivion on PC. Mods galore. Not to mention that I prefer mouse/kb with anything involving killing shit.

I am such a Fallout newb. It took me seeing this Vegas game to get real interested in it. Now I am goin to have pick up 3 and all the DLC to see if I would even dig the new one.
Also, Kane and Lynch 2 is the shit. Someone please play it online. No one bought it last week :(
i played for a couple hours last night thanks to torrent. refined fallout 3 engine. the stats, perks, crafting, battle systems are more complicated. this game is much more like the old fallouts in terms of having so many oppressive RPG rules, which is good. so far the story is more interesting from the start. it has an interesting way to setup your character (Rorschach test) that was almost dead on. i made a lucky, perceptive, stealthy, energy weapon-slinging scientist.
i was psyched when it asked me if i wanted to turn on hardcore mode. (faster dehydration, broken bones can only be mended with a doctor or the proper equipment, stimpacks and other meds work over time instead of instantly, etc) yes please.
I played for a couple hours this morning (thanks tpb). I didn't have the intro bug in the above video but there were some odd lag spikes that I'll look into later. I heard Obsidian already released a patch for the game, and they're also working on another one. No hardcore mode for me, I'll save that for the second play-through ;)
I'm digging the gameplay so far; don't mind that the graphics are a little dated. My character is a messikan with some deadly mutton chops.
Jesus, I gotta start playing this again. I stalled out trying to save some pussy from being eaten at the casino without accidentally killing everyone in the building on the way out.
The ending pissed me off. I made multiple save points so I could take different pathways to see the different endings but I still don't any of the endings (similar to how I felt at the end of fallout 3).

After the end of fallout 3, my entire goal in New Vegas is NOT to finish. If anything smells like a major plotline, I avoid it or fuck it up.
I'm not sure if it has anything to do with this game in particular. It was pretty cool so far. I think in general, i'm just bored with video games and would rather do real shit.
