4. The Royal Tenenbaums
5. The Darjeeling Limited |

In order:
1. Tennenbaums
2. Rushmore
3. Darjeeling

My favorite explanation of the Life Aquatic was "imagine Max Fischer from Rushmore grew up and directed a movie." |

I need to pick up Darjeeling. The Life Aquatic is easily my favorite though. I've seen that one so many times. |

3. The time she was born with a dong
2. The time she named a fest "Fuck the fire department fest"
1. The time she posted on RTTP about fucking the fire department thinking everyone would commend her for being such an awesome rebel, neglecting the fact that this is RTTP and nearly everyone who posts here hates her. |

i'm with you, i don't like any of them at all. it seems either people love them, or really hate them. |

I don't see how anyone could like the life aquatic over Tennenbaums or Rushmore. Don't get me wrong, I liked the life aquatic, but it was so scattered all over the place that it didn't hold my interest like his previous films did.
I think that's part of the reason why he did Darjeeling. He was able to use the train as a way to keep the story tethered to it. The symbolism with the baggage in Darjeeling was a little obvious though. About half way through the movie I said to myself "This film won't end until there's a slow motion scene where they purposely ditch the baggage." Fast forward an hour and there it is. His symbolism was a lot more subtle in the first two films. |
|
And the short film that preceded the Darjeeling Limited was the biggest pile of arrogant film school garbage I've ever seen. I seriously almost walked out of the theater before I realized it was a 5 minute long prelude to the real film.
Or maybe I just hate Natalie Portman. |
