Just the name makes me think it's bad because it reminds me of He is Legend.

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Jun 29,2007 12:39pm
What a terrible trailer. Aren't they supposed to give you an idea as to what the fuck the movie is actually about?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 29,2007 12:41pm
omega man.

In 2006, the KV virus is developed in a laboratory, but the virus mutates out of control, changing the world's population into bloodthirsty creatures. Three years later, former military scientist Robert Neville (Will Smith) is working in Manhattan, since quarantined, to develop a cure for the pandemic. Neville finds himself to be the only uninfected human on the island, if not the world.

i am legend by white zombie

It's based on the book "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson. It was made into the movie "Last man on earth" with Vincent Price, and then it was made into "The Omega man" Charelton Heston.

The only downside to this movie compared to the book is that they aren't vampires anymore. That is what was so great about the book is that it was a different take on the vampire lore.

I was just watching that last night on movies.com. What an odd fit for Will Smith.

Eh im sure he's got a whole slew of those movies lined up. Ever since I, Robot he thinks he can act or something.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Jun 29,2007 1:50pm
I like Will Smith. I think he is a versatile actor but vampires!?!

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Jun 29,2007 1:50pm edited Jun 29,2007 1:51pm
... although I must say he has made a better transition to serious roles than many others who attempted to do the same. i enjoyed his role in The Pursuit of Happiness.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Jun 29,2007 1:52pm
I still haven't seen that and it looks interesting. Hitch had its moments but overall, it sucked.

Ya Hitch was pretty dumb. But Happiness was very well written and the acting was superb IMHO.

the "i am legend" graphic novel is pretty awesome. i'd be willing to check out this movie.

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Jun 29,2007 6:23pm
The book was awesome and I dug "The Omega Man". Charlston Heston shooting at mutants and nailing a 70s black afrochick. Classic.

I have high hopes for this, seeing as it's been in development hell for years. But, like Chris, I'm disappointed that it's not gonna be vampires, unless they at least give them vbampire-like qualities and weaknesses so to at least give it the right feel and Will Smith's character that whole day/night dynamic that was key to the story and how he lived in this vampire infested post-apocalyptic world.

toggletoggle post by thuringwethil at Jun 29,2007 8:39pm
READ THE FUCKING NOVEL

it is sooooo good

toggletoggle post by thuringwethil at Jun 29,2007 8:40pm
this film has been in development hell for decades, BTW

"I'M DA LAST MAN ON EARF" *punch punch*

toggletoggle post by thegreatspaldino   at Jun 30,2007 6:26am
i HOPE this movie isnt like the typical fuck up, changed plot, "updated" for modern consumption, heaping pile of greedy shit like most other movies now-a-days. its like they have a random generator deep in the heart of hollywood and they input the original plot and then hit the "modern optimization" button. it strews together generic words and situations that people in the present "indentify" with. the end result is a shitstorm of an advertisement campaign and a butchered take on the highly superior original.

when some random scrub looking monster of a guy told me i had to read this book one time when i was in Barnes and Noble... i listened to him and i was glad that i did. this is one of my favorite books. short and to the point. it was action packed, had a dude ripping through vampires in a studebaker, from his own house that he modified into a make shift forteress with hunting rifles, and hot vampire sluts trying to fuck him. they should just have made the movie EXACTLY like the book. one guy, a bazillion vampires, and a shit load of asswhoopin. that would make for a most enjoyable time in the theater. fuck, the book is so good.

toggletoggle post by BOBDEAD at Jun 30,2007 1:15pm
not too psyched about Will Smith playing the main character...the book "I am Legend" and the movie "Omega Man" are classics...hopefully he wont fuck it up...

toggletoggle post by urinal turd at Jun 30,2007 1:59pm
the book is amazing.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 1,2008 10:20am
at the theater nizzow.

toggletoggle post by CNV at Jan 1,2008 10:36am
anything with Will Smith in it sucks by default... Fuck this movie

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Jan 1,2008 10:40am
I liked it...but there's not a whole lot that it shares in common with the book. And I liked the story from the novel a lot better.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Jan 1,2008 10:41am
oh, I just read spaldino's post

yeah, you won't like it

toggletoggle post by y_ddraig_goch  at Jan 1,2008 1:53pm
warning plot spoiler...

The ending was completely changed. And the whole concept of smart vampires who could talk was thrown out. And the way he gets the dog was better in the books

but all together I liked this movie alot, I mean the part with him falling into the trap and then all the way up to having to kill his dog was pretty ripping and brutal

toggletoggle post by sxealex   at Jan 1,2008 2:58pm
if you see this see it at imax they have the 10 minute batman prologue

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 1,2008 3:23pm
this was a really good movie, but for a millitary dude, he makes a lot of mistakes.
1) using a rifle for close combat
2) not having more than a rifle on himself
3) not fortifying enough
4) his house getting blown up
5) not having magnesium incendiaries

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Jan 1,2008 7:48pm
i'm going to see it tonight.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Jan 1,2008 7:53pm
yes the batman prologue was fucking fantastic

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 1,2008 8:03pm
what is the HUGE batman with the superman logo thing?

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Jan 1,2008 8:05pm
not sure what that was all about...alex and I are talking about the pre-movie batmanness.

maybe there are plans for a batman/superman in 2012 or something and that was their clever marketing?

I'm sure nerds all over are talking about this, we might as well.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 1,2008 8:18pm
it would have been 2009.
2012 was 3 years after everything fell apart.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Jan 1,2008 8:20pm
oh true...god I suck at this

remembering when advertising was in commercials, and not a part of the actual fucking movie that you paid to see?

it was still garbage then

toggletoggle post by craig nli at Jan 1,2008 11:43pm
wait wait. is there going to be another christian bale as batman movie?

toggletoggle post by metalguy at Jan 2,2008 12:31am

what the fuck are you talking about, advertising has been in movies since they began.

case in point, original superman, he lifts and throws a giant marlboro truck, marlboro cigarettes are in pretty much every other frame in that movie.

Honestly, I think they just threw those two logos together to get nerds to get all horny, just like they put 6.12 a gallon for gas to get a gasp from all the sheeple in the audience....which it did at my theatre....

alliteration

toggletoggle post by DaveFromTheGrave  at Jan 2,2008 3:26am
I was unaware that superman was the bignning of all movies. thanks for the info.

I downloaded and watched this last night. I'm glad I didn't pay for it, cause it sucked ass.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Jan 2,2008 8:50am
so you only pay for movies that don't suck? wow...not sure how you can pull that off ;)
~~~
i had 2 passes...of course they were for any movie but aaron didn't want to see Juno or PS I lvoe you...so we compromised
toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 2,2008 8:58am
I like who 'compromised' means a movie I want to see.
toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Jan 2,2008 9:07am
I only like the black & white silent moving pictures...back when life was pure and good and perfect!
toggletoggle post by porphyria at Jan 2,2008 9:39am
This movie would've been better if it wasn't PG-13. The 'infected' weren't nasty looking enough. There wasn't enough fighting and it ended too abruptly.
I also could've sworn I saw things in the trailer that I never saw in the movie.
toggletoggle post by C.DEAD at Jan 2,2008 9:45am
I guess Mike Patton does alot of voice acting in this; don't know as what however. It does look pretty stupid and I can't stand Will Smith as he is such a cheese.
I only pay for movies when there's no other option. Fuck the entertainment industry.
