I just checked the Onion sports and found this quick gem. It's obviously written in response to the media's gushing over the Yankees recent win streak, and actually getting within 10 games of the Sox. There's some really good battles for divisional titles going on right now (Indians and Tigers, Padres and Dodgers, Braves and Mets) but I'm sorry, the Yankees just aren't one of them. No matter how many shitty products Derek Jeter endorses.

See, this bugs me considerably. A lot of people are really truly convinced that the Yankees are certain to snag at least the wild card. What the hell for? I mean don't get me wrong, I know my baseball history as well as the next guy. This is a classic setup for the Yankees to creep back into competition late in the season and stick it to the Sox (i.e. the Bucky Dent incident). It's got Sox/Yankees cliche written all over it.

But come on, Cleveland and Detroit are going back and forth in the standings and I'd put either one of them up against the Yankees any day of the week. Hell Seattle even has a better record then the Yankees. They're playing like shit, they're a boring over rated team, and they don't deserve to make the playoffs. The only guy they have that's really playing like he means it is the guy everybody wanted to kick off the team a year ago. Yankees suck.

It remains to be seen ... theres still more than 3 months left in the season. Dont get me wrong - I hate the fucking Yankees as much as the next guy but I'm just being realistic in terms of whats possible and likely.
