From Blab:
After triumphantly headlining the annual Wacken Open Air festival in Germany and four capacity performances in America last summer, Norwegian black metal pioneers EMPEROR have announced their return to the United States for three encore appearances this spring.
"We have made a decision to return to the U.S. for a few additional shows," notes guitarist Samoth. "This time Chicago is also put on the map.
"The shows last summer were very successful and we had an amazing turnout and support from all the fans. It was also a bit stressful because of the embassy hassle that we unfortunately had to endure. So we feel a few more shows are due and this time, all visas are in order and the band will appear in its full command."
Confirmed dates are as follows:
May 30 - The Metro - Chicago, IL
Jun. 01 - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill - New York, NY
Jun. 03 - Key Club - West Hollywood, CA
Ticket on-sale information will be announced shortly.

NOW i'm definitely going to the NY show. i missed the last one, but in a way i am glad because Samoth was not present. i've never seen Emperor, and i dont want my first experience to be without a key part. you cant have solid Emperor without two guitarists. |
is it going to be $65-$100 per ticket again then? |

i saw them in 1999 in NYC and it was seriously the most flawless metal performance i've ever seen in my life. even their soundcheck sounded initially just like they were playing the cd over the PA, but then they'd stop and or various instruments would stop and you could tell it was actually live. they're fucking ridiculous live.

Prices haven't been announced. I'm going to try to go, regardless. |

that statement tells me that you missed their performance. I didn't even notice Samoth missing. it was so fucking good. |
I may try to photograph this event. |
Emperor is one of my favorite bands.
I would go if I lived closer and actually had money. |
Sack up. Emperor's worth the hassle. |
yah that was a good trip... might need to repeat it. |
I'm definetly not missing them this time. |
i will sabotage your plans to see them |

I knew you were a terrorist. Fucking sleeper cell shit! |

they did play the palladium back in 2000? with pecatum and borknagar?can't recall,I was totally wasted |
Wrath of The Tyrants is probably their best album. |
"Wrath..." was good, "Nightside..." is my favorite. |
IX Equilibrium and Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire & Demise are their best, before those they were boring.

Yes, they did. It was in 1999, and it was a really good show. |
WTF, I want a North American TOUR, not a couple of random shows!!! |
srsly. if they did a tour I'd probably hit up two or three stops. |

uh........what? you do realize that the almighty In the Nightside Eclipse and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk are pre-IX Equilibrium right? the words "Emperor" and "boring" are an oxymoron. i think you need to give those another listen. In the Nightside Eclipse is, well, In the Nightside Eclipse. |
IX Equilibrium is actually my favorite record from them I think, but Prometheus doesn't really do it for me as much. The early shit is way more evil than Anthems and anything after though. I appreciate it for different reasons. |
i wish Ihsahn would tour with his solo project too. That album is so fucking badass. |
Indeed. If he did a solo tour playing stuff from The Adversary and Prometheus (it's basically an Ihsahn solo album), that would rule. |
fucking missed them last year due to my flight to England leaving the same day for my Scandinavian cruise. i tried so hard to get a flight out of NY so I could at least start my cruise off right. alas, i failed. however, this time... |
last year was everything I hoped for, they played every song that I wanted them to, they fuckin delivered, definately going again, worth every fuckin penny |
anyone know when tickets go on sale? i refuse to miss this. |
