thats some evocative tribal music, muslix64 |
hah, I was watching it with the sound off at work. Nice choice of music. That's always the music that's running through my head when I'm at the command prompt. |
msd, what do you use to burn dvd's on yer pc?
i have dvd shrink and easy dvd shrink
but am running into issues..it won't play the dvd bcz of the region
help? |
I don't know any workarounds for regions unless you get a regionless dvdrom drive or just change the region on your current one. I believe most dvdrom/dvd burner drives allow you to change the region 3 times. |
the dvd shrink program is old and the easy dvd shrink well i ran out of movie to burn i only had the trial
booo |
ps: i just saw that you need the professional version of easy dvd shrink
bleh!! |
All region dvd players are pretty cheap on Ebay. That's were I got mine. I love my new HDDVD player. You don't realize the difference until you go back and watch a regular dvd. The sound alone is so incredibly better in HD. |
i don't need an all region one it's an issue copying something i guess i'm not allowed to, oh well. |

I bet you loved Beta too. |
no, cause if I did, I would have gotten an HDDVD drive. |
They both use blue lasers and create the same picture quality. My disc's are just cheaper. Have fun buying $30 movies. |
You heard it here folks . Rich Horror endorses HDDVD. |
That's a line from my new commercial for HDDVD. |
I'll try to enjoy 100GB per-disc... have fun with your 60GB losah discs. |

Actually currently Blue Ray disc's are only shipping single layer 25 GB discs while HDDVD is using dual layer 15 Gb discs for a total of 30 Gb's. So currently HDDVD's offer more capacity. Don't believe sony's lame pipe dreams. |
maybe you and your HDDVDs can come over and sniff my balls? I promise to take pictures of it |

Cool I can use them on my myspace. I'll buy your PS3 next year for 50 bucks when it's obsolete. |
I want that PSX that they talked about on the PS2 comercials a few years ago.
and not the lame one that they actually made:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSX_(DVR) |
It's pretty cool that it has a DVR. But since most cable companys offer a built in DVR with their boxes it's not that practicle. It would be cooler if it connected to your cable box to have a picture in picture so you could play and have T.V. on. |
you can do it, but you need more than one cable connection.. and digital box if you want a digital signal. |
Really? I'll have to look into it. I don't think that works for the 360. You can do that with PS3? |
I'm not exactly sure what the difference between this and just having PIP on your TV with whatever on the main picture and TV on the other input. |
I still haven't figured out all the features of my 360. pluss I have to get a new HDcable box since I moved and had to turn in my old one. So when I get that I'll see if I can connect them some how. Maybe through My Xbox live connection. I know I can play music off my I tunes and display pictures and video from my computer. |

On Amazon HDDVD's are $19.99. The prices will be dropping in retail stores soon too. HDDVD'S are cheaper to produce cause they use the same machines as standard Dvd's unlike Blueray. |
so what's the difference between bluray and regular dvd? what are the pros and cons? |
Withought getting into too much detail it's like this: HD DVD and Blu-ray both use blue lasers to read and write data; because blue has a shorter wavelength than the red used in DVD and CD lasers, information can be packed more densely on a disc and a single disc can hold more. Both HD DVD and Blu-ray drives are able to read current-generation DVDs. Sony claims their blue ray dics will one day be capable of holding more information than an HDDVD. But they have yet to prove this.
HD DVD is better and cheaper then Bluray. Bluray has a higher capacity but you don't need that much room to watch a true HD Movie. Bluray has alot more noise in the picture then HD DVD. I own a HDDVD player and its amazing. I saw the new sony Bluray, its nice but the picture is not as good as HDDVD. Plus HDDVD has much better audio if you have a sweet system. I could go on but you get the point. HDDVD yo! |
ok, thanks for the info. Do you guys think that Sony will eventually prove their claim that bluray can be better? |
I think that by the time HDDVD are 60GB and bluerays are 100GB, this point will be moot cause you will have drives that are
CD-r, CD-rw, DVD+r, DVD-r, DVD+rw, DVD-rw, DVD DL+r, DVD DL-r, DVD DL+rw, DVD DL-rw, blueray-r, blueray-rw, blueray dl, blueray dl-rw, HDDVD dl-r, HDVD dl-rw.
personally, I want the multi-colored lazer discs I saw demoing raw (uncompressed) 1GB/sec video back in 2001. the discs held 2TB and had something like 8-layers. |
no, cause if I did, I would have gotten an HDDVD drive. |
i got aaron a ps3 (60gb) and it came with a bluray disk (rickie bobbie i think it's called) and it also came with $10 a bunch of blu ray disks. not bad at all |
guess you haven't seen a true blu ray movie |
Sure have i work with that stuff, bluray looks good but has alot more noise in the picture then hddvd. I have compared both. |
BTW, I looked at blank discs today.
BD-R were $25 for 25GB
HDDVD-R were $18 for 17GB
blue-ray wins for data. |
and I declare that I won the thumb war. |
Your statement came from the Blue Ray association. Of course they're gonna say they're the best. |
that's funny. thought the BD talks about actual products to market and the HDDVD talks about that special "feeling".
like I said, in a couple years BD and HD will be like saying DVD-R and DVD+R. this is not a beta senario cause the discs look exactly the friggin same. |
Oh, I know. At some point soon there will be a player that plays both formats and that will be the end of it. But it's still a fun debate. |
that time is here, geez... LG announced it like forever ago |
Aaron is enough of a condescending dickhead to work for customer support. |
I know alot of companies are in the process of making them. But having to pay licensing fees to both Blue Ray and HD DVD pluss the cost of manufacturing currently makes it unconsumer friendly. |
LG's is $1199 and it out like now.
I would work in customer support, but I don't speak indian. |
I'm looking forward to the bump in sound quality more than video on BD/HD-DVD discs.
I love it when I rent a DVD and then notice that it has DTS surround on it. It sounds so much fucking better. |
there are 200GB BD-Rs in the works. |

alright guy how about you tell me how bluray is better for HD movies? If anything they are equal now but at the begining bluray had some real shady looking movies. Now what? |
Rev you see the departed yet on bluray? Its awesome. |
blugay. I have an apple II for sale..dos mode and everything...50 bucks. Comes with Oregon trail 2. No joke |
just got a ps3, i'm rollin in HD now. |
What BluRay drive do you have, Rev? |
Holy fuck. That is great. Now..things I need.... a monitor that does HDCP and for blockbuster to start renting out bluray titles.
And why the fuck is Transformers only out on DVD and HDDVD? |
PS: HD DVD loses?!? that's unpossible. someone put in the picture of the pear.
holy fuck! Heath Ledger is dead! |
Ok this this whole blu-ray/ hd debate to me is dead. I see no difference in either. I have both and pretty much the most insane home theater set up. I'd invite anyone over to try and prove me wrong, but on my set up, with the receiver I have, the insane Cambridge Soundworks speakers (all 7 of them, 11 if you count the 4 subs separately) the 72inch HD and the highest end cables money can buy there IS NO difference. Both look fucking badass and sound unreal.
It all really boils down to which movie studio aligns themselves with whatever side is who is going to win. Sony owns a ton of studios hence the Spiderman movies will only be released on Blu-ray and Warner as of now is aligned with HD, hence Batman Begins on HD.
By the way, Beta lost the war with VHS because they refused to allow porn studios to use their format. Same thing Sony is doing with Blu-ray. You can't deny a multi-billion dollar business like that and not feel the loss.

I have a simliar set up and agree but Warner just went bluray exclusive. Blurays gonna end up winning. |
Warner just went BD? well I guess that means no high def porn now! I didn't need to see herpes in high def anyway. |
BD's got like a 90% share now. |
