i think i am ready to upgrade to a peavey valve king head...
any suggestions on a starting to mid ranged cab?

good choice on the valve king head...for a great bang for you buck cab, look at some of the stuff carvin has. the legacy cabs come loaded with vintage 30s and are only like 550. their g12t-75 loaded cabs are even cheaper, like 450. if youre looking for even cheaper than that, find a used cab on craigslist.

Id suggest a slant cab, although I rock a straight.
The staright mesa seems to have a touch more chunk.
Carvin is a good cheap choice.
Laney is another, although Im not a fan.

You may be able to find a cheap-ish Mesa or Marshall 1960, I would suggest that if possible.

If you don't have your heart set on the valve state amp, I recomend looking at a few more amps in the price range.

a marshall 1960 is a good choice for a cab. it's a well constructed cab with celestion vintage 30 speakers (vintage 30s are always a good choice). also, for a tiny bit less money, Crate and Kustom have celestion-equipped full sized cabs that sound excellent.

Me and Mark Richards have them, they are some of the best cabs I've played. The crate one is the GT412 (not the g412). it can be had for 400 bucks if you shop around.

the valve king is all tube, hence the name.

yeah...I was thinking that this didn't sound right. Valve King is probably the best head Peavey makes. Though I guess that's a preference thing.

yeah i'm still kinda looking but all the reviews i've heard of this amp is that is great for the price tag and i don't have $3000 to spend on an amp....

i like the vintage 30's they sound good... i may check that out
