i cant believe i've never seen this before. i have to say this is one of the best, most well written movies i have ever seen. the acting was awesome, Joe Spinnell really took the throttle on his character. everything about this was fucking incredible. the shotgun blast to the face was jaw dropping. i strongly recommend this to any fan of disturbing horror. the scariest part about this movie was it wasnt far fetched, there are really psychos like this in the world. i give it a fucking 10.

I agree, Yeti, this movie really pushes the limits. It features some of Tom Savini's BEST gore makeup and effects, and Joe Spinnel is SOOOOOO creepy as the killer--big if somewhat tubby, eloquent if not the best listener (yeah but-yeah-but-yeah-but), and darkly anonmymous (except for that poor model he killed in HER OWN APARTMENT.)

the scalping scenes are the worst--eeeeewwwwwwwwww!

he was in the Godfather too. this guy at my work let me borrow his copy of "Maniac", and he says there is also a movie called "The Last Horror Movie" aka "Fanatic" which has the main characters from "Maniac".

I'm a big fan of the original and I really enjoyed this take on it, the all-POV direction was awesome and must have been challenging as hell to film.
