I heard it was leaked, anyone have it yet?

toggletoggle post by pam   at Aug 4,2006 10:12am
Not yet, I'm scared though. I hate their new singer.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Aug 4,2006 10:14am
I heard one of the tracks on the gigantour myspace page, it was pretty good, I've heard it's supposed to be better then Buried Into Oblivion, but I dunno... I'm not so sure they can top that album

toggletoggle post by pam   at Aug 4,2006 10:22am
There's no way it will be better than Oblivion. No way that's gonna happen with Fruitcake the over-singer in the band. God, I hate that guy.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Aug 4,2006 10:23am
I have it. It sucks. Just like their other albums.

Horrible clean trendy metalcore vocals like Shadows Fall, derivative melodeath riffs. The real shame is that occasionally they'll start off a song with this awesome part and then ruin it with the rest.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 4,2006 10:24am
there is a track here:

The entire album is leaked, you can easily find a torrent.

I would say Into Eternity is the most overrated band from Canada if it weren't for the existence of Three Inches of Metalcore Kids Playing Mock Power Metal with At the Gates Riffs in the Grand Tradition of Irony.

Listening now...cover art is awesome.

I love Into Eternity.

And I will never forgive you for comparing a power/proggy band with shit like Shadows Fall.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Aug 4,2006 10:33am edited Aug 4,2006 10:39am
I have to disagree. They do the same thing as Shadows Fall. They are NOT a prog band, and they are NOT power metal. They mix thrash and melodeath with Iron Maiden-style leads/riffs and alternate Christian Camp-style male clean vocals with awful death vocals. They might have a little less 'hardcore' than Shadows Fall, and the two bands don't sound exactly alike, but they do have the same hybridized style. People constantly recommend one to fans of the other.

What irks me is that Into Eternity will start a few songs off awesome with really good riffs and then kill them, whereas SF I just haven't liked anything they've done since the demo days.

Just not my thing.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Aug 4,2006 10:42am
I don't think they have even a drip of Thrash in them, at all. The high vocals are power metal vocals, both singers, especially this new jerk, are big power metal dudes. Their clean vocal melodies are distinctly power influenced and Tim Roth's solo style is way too complex and crazy to be in the same ballpark as melodeath. There is nothing in any IE album I've heard that I could even fathom sounding hardcore.

I see that they have the singer/screamer combo. A lot of bands do, this combo spans genres and I don't think they do it the way SF does. PLUS...IE is always ON KEY automatically disqualifying them for metalcore status. haha.

They were big names on Progpower for a reason. I've never seen anyone think they aren't a prog/power combo. You sir, are weird.

i love Into Eternity and 3 Inches of Blood. I must seem so uncool to you DHTH, haha.

wow...

and round one goes to....

PAM!

so, torrent links anyone? I'ld like to have this before I leave work today. I've tried ISOHunt and Torrent Reactor (to no avail), I just want the mp3s to hold me over until the CD comes out.

kthxbye

I'm not trying to win, I just don't hear what Scott does. I respect his POV cause he and I share a romance with chocolate frosted coffee rolls.

Exile...make yourself aquainted with KerrazyTorrents.

Yes, they have thrash riffs. If a known thrash band played some of the same riffs as Into Eternity, they would be called 'thrash' riffs. I can point out specific examples if you need them. Melodic death metal comes from thrash, so this is to be expected.

And just what 'power metal' bands were they in before Into Eternity? Even Metal Archives has them listed as melodic death metal. Their vocals sound a lot more like Christian camp fireplace singing than any of the thousand or so power metal albums I have.

They do a few Halford-like screams. If that constitutes power metal to you, all the power to ya. Three Inches of Blood must be real power metal too!

Their clean vocal melodies are distinctly power influenced and Tim Roth's solo style is way too complex and crazy to be in the same ballpark as melodeath.

Ah...what? There are some seriously amazing guitar players in melodeath bands, they are CERTAINLY in the same ballpark as Into Eternity. Klas Idberg? Come on.

Hey, I thought you didn't like complex and crazy guitar solos!

There is nothing in any IE album I've heard that I could even fathom sounding hardcore.

What I meant is Shadows Fall grew up with more hardcore, and you can hear that in their sound, which is one of the differences between them and IE.

PLUS...IE is always ON KEY automatically disqualifying them for metalcore status. haha.

A lot of metalcore bands are on key, they just suck, but Shadows Fall vocals are not. I'll cede you that. I also never said IE was off key.

They were big names on Progpower for a reason. I've never seen anyone think they aren't a prog/power combo.

ProgPower is the name of the fest, it doesn't mean that every band who plays there is a prog or power metal band. IE has guitar solos and are fairly popular, obviously they would appeal to the same fans as a lot of those bands. Same with other bands that have played/are playing there like Mercenary.

Correction, now you have seen someone. Also, I know many people who do not think of them as a power metal band. I also know people who think Shadows Fall is prog death metal, that Elvis is alive and Jesus hates us.

I can cede a little that some people might think of them as 'prog metal', but really, if you think IE is progressive, then I have some bands for you to hear that will EXPLODE YOUR MIND.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Aug 4,2006 11:06am
I will do that pam!

and I was only kidding around about the win/lose, you both have your own opinions (I share yours, because I love IE as well). I've known Scott for a long time, and he stands by his views firmly, I respect his opinions (although I don't always agree with them), just like I respect everyone elses (more or less)

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Aug 4,2006 11:22am
I'm listening to the record again because I am a fair and just person, and I'm trying to hear what is so great about this band.

There are some good riffs, some sound like later Death ala Individual Thought Patterns, but I cannot deal with the vocals (even those that sound like Realm) and the happy melodeath riffs.

No, I can see why you'd like IE's music.

New singer doesnt sound much different than Chris Krall, new song sounds awsome. I hope its better than Buried in Oblivion, cause that cd hasnt left my car cd player in a long time, and i hate getting sick of good cds.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Aug 4,2006 11:47am
By big power metal guys I mean they love Power Metal. I did a couple interviews with IE.

I don't understand how the high vocals, especially with the new guy (but I supposed you'd have to see him live) aren't power metal influenced. I have heard hundreds of power metal albums as well. Again, I'll agree to disagree. The new guy sounds like the dude from Falconer, and if they aren't power metal, I evidently missed the boat.

All of the bands on ProgPower are or are HEAVILY influenced by Prog or Power metal. This is what they send you in an email when you email them about how to get on the fest. I understand that by traditional prog and power standards, IE are not. But they are influenced by both, and that came straight out of their mouth when I interviewed them. I will take their word over Metal Archives.

And I can totally understand why you don't like IE's vocals, or the band at all. I don't debate you liking or not liking them, I just don't hear what you do.

That said:

I hate 3 Inches of Blood.

Mercenary > Into Eternity.

When I saw them live a couple times, the new guy fucking overdid EVERYTHING. He changed all the vocals to higher and stupid, to show off. Can't stand him.

On the song I heard he sounds the same.

I will agree that they are 'influenced' by both.

I still think there are a lot of parts on this record that sound exactly like what Shadows Fall does. They go into the raging riff with the death grunts, and then the melodic hook comes in with the campfire chorus. That's the 'in' thing.

I like some of their riffs, I probably will never be able to do leads like that in my lifetime unless I actually sit down and practice, but I just can't stand the vocals. It's not even the styles of the vocals, it's the fact that they all sound awful in the mix (like a lot of metalcore records).

After my second complete listen, I think this record is better than their old ones, but I still don't like it.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Aug 4,2006 12:33pm
Yea unfortunatly you are gonna have to sit down and practice to get that good, i know cause i sacrificed having a life to do exactly that.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Aug 4,2006 12:58pm
I'm going through the whole thing now for the first time, so far so good, but I don't think it's better then Buried yet

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Aug 4,2006 1:02pm
thanks again pam for referring me to Kerrazy Torrents

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Aug 4,2006 1:14pm
I'm not overly keen on the 'Ripper-esque' vocals, but other then that and the sound of the kick drum, it's a solid album

quite honestly i get kinda annoyyed of alot of the vocals on Oblivion.......

"Eradication of the mind, Begining of the end, NO ESCAAAAAPE! ARRMAGEDDON!"
that part makes me cringe

I have it, I like it....alot.

I actually like the new singer, he's got his own voice. The reason alot of the vocals sound the same as the last album is because Tim Roth does ALOT of them. I'm a little dissapointed Rob isn't playing guitar in the band anymore, he was a cool guy, amazing guitarist and has a really good death voice, I hope he comes out with his own thing sometime in the future. The production is amazing too, I love the bass tone on it.

When I saw them open up for Hammerfall, Stu (lead singer) said that they had been working on new stuff and they all thought it was gonna blow away Buried In Oblivion. I can't really give a definate answer on that because I haven't listened to it enough, it's the only thing I've been listening to for the past day now. Even if it doesn't live up to the last one, it's a damn good album. I can't wait to see them live.
