anyone looking to play some pen and paper RPGs? I'm starting a rifts group. We have 3 players and i'm the GM. No set day of playing yet since we need to figure out when is best for everyone. best of all, we own almost every book you could need, so its damn near free.

www.palladiumbooks.com has more info.

I played that in high school, fuck yeah!

Rifts was decent but grossly unbalanced game system, I'd play but already got too many commitments. Glad to see someone is playing it still!

Scott, when we gonna have the post Tarrasque escapade through Elustria?

"Mr. V" was the man, and Drakar was always in a fireball frenzy...

and what ever happened to Miguel, the guy that had the character that ended up being the "Rain Dwarf" ?

I knew kids that were into Rifts. I played a few times but I'm generally more into the dark medieval aspect of D&D and AD&D...I didn't have time to play both and D&D was much better...

No, I didnt really get into that game, I played once or twice. Rifts I liked because it was all sci-fi shit. I played from 7th grade to about 9th grade.

Miguel is still around but not playing in any games here. There are at least 10-11 people still around playing D&D 3.5 with experimental rules and World of Darkness (new edition core game), as well as other forms of geekery.

good to know Miguel's still around, if you talk to him, tell him to get intouch with me

but, we do need another 2nd ED romp through elustria

People have talked about doing a nostalgic 2e game, but really, the 3.5e rules are just so much more appealing now for most.

I haven't had the time or money to start looking into the 3.5E rules yet...

but, if you decide to run a nostalgic 2e game, let me know, I think there's a decendent of Elmyrdius floating about somewhere... LOL!

we're playing a small group of 3E. We asked about 3.5 and heard it just fixed some minor gaming issues.
D&D has a much more rounded system, but the world of Rifts is too good to pass up. Balance is an issues until you get used to it.

3.5 is a MAJOR improvement over 3.0, especially the ganked wizard spells. It was well worth the 60 bucks to order the three new books on AMAZON, and you can also download the 3.5 System Reference Document completely free from WoTC if you don't want to pay for the books. As soon as that came out my groups all switched to it and unanimously agreed it is better. Plus all the books that have come out then cater to 3.5, so it's kinda necessary unless you want to do backwards tweaking.

I do love all editions of D&D, don't get me wrong...they all had their charms and I wouldn't be abject to going back and doing some retro stuff.

There are far better gaming worlds than either D&D or RIFTs (assuming you use the default D&D setting and not your own, which most people do), but I would have to spend an hour just listing them.

If you are a RIFTs fan though and happen to own an N-Gage (lol) my friend told me they are coming out with a mobile phone RPG for RIFTs....is that bizarre or what?

we are doing that backwards tweaking. the players handbook is 3E. everything else is 3.5, since thats all stores carry. maybe my group will through some money in together and get the 3.5 handbook if its that much better.

ya, i know about that n-gage game. but who is dumb enough to own an n-gage?
maybe there is an emulator some where.?

I ebayed a box of the RIfts CCG for $20. Mainly for the artwork, but maybe its good.
