If he is serious about this, he should take on the oil depletion allowance, which is a complete perversion of the concept of investment depreciation. As long as it stands, the oil companies are only paying on 72.5% of their income (before even dealing with the other recent tax breaks).

I'd love to see him try to apply a windfall/clawback tax to the same companies on their outrageous incomes in the past decade, but I won't be holding my breath.
