The Tsunami in 2004 had more deaths by far because it nailed coastal villages and towns. And coastal villages and towns in that part of the world = tons and tons of poor people. Haiti was pretty bad but because they are a very poor country with weak leadership an a high crime rate, everyone wanted to donate. Japan on the other hand, being the more "civilized" areas hit and one of our closest allies (not to mention the 3rd largest economy in the world) , is different in many regards. The have the capacity and infrastructure to keep moving and assist those who are in need of help. There's no doubt that all three incidents were all grave situations, but Japan is a big boy and can handle themselves better than the other areas. That's not to say they don't need outside help; but rather they don't need as much. Long live Japan
