Ardour is would be preferable over audacity and has good support for a lot of fire-wire devices. Like I said Linux dose not cover everything out there in the specialized software world, but for the average user who just wants to get online, burn CDs, email, do office stuff, and be entertained, I don't see a reason to spend $$$ on Windows or a Mac unless you have to. And for anyone who wants to try Linux, most of the ISO's have a live CD feature where you can try Linux without installing to your hard drive. It's a pretty groovy feature.[/QUOTE]
