There is. Bar owners can open up a pleasant area outside for people to enjoy their cigarettes. There's a few bars I've been to that put up fences so you can even take your beer with you. Does it suck in the winter? Sure. Do I feel bad? Nope. Freedom stops when other people's freedom ends.

I understand your point but the reality is that not a single bar would have changed anything. People hang in crowds of smokers and non-smokers.

Why isn't it OK to drive drunk? Because you'll kill yourself? No...because you'll kill other people, who did not make a stupid decision. Should non-drunk-drivers just stay off the roads like non-smokers should just stay out of bars? Bullshit.

I don't know a single smoker that quit going to bars because they couldn't smoke, so really...it's not hurting the bar owners. It's improving work conditions for their employees, most likely decreased their fire hazards and leaves them the option to boast something like a nice outdoor lounge over their competition.
