I picked up a Mouth of the Architect album a couple years ago on a whim, and I didn't get into it. Thought it was pretty boring. Had its moments, but I ended up just trading it in at the local record shop towards something else.

There aren't many bands that pull this style off well, IMO. Neurosis has the bar set REALLY fucking high. Cult of Luna is really fucking good though. I think there's something in the water over in Sweden that just makes people over there grow up to start ridiculous bands.

I've been getting back into "Red Sea" era Isis lately too. I wish they would do another balls out heavy album like that.
