ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- A 29-year-old man killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 95 in Attleboro had recently undergone a double lung transplant and was engaged.

The Bristol District Attorney's office says Michael Groff, of West Warwick, Rhode Island, and 32-year-old Melissa Gauthier, of Cumberland, Rhode Island, were killed in the crash Wednesday, though complete identification through dental records had not been completed.

Groff had written on MySpace.com that he had cystic fibrosis, but underwent the transplant in May. He planned to get married in September.

State police say Groff and Gauthier's cars were traveling at more than 100 miles per hour when they went off the highway, slammed into the concrete bridge abutment to Interstate 295 and burst into flames.

The crash remains under investigation.
