We think it's this old timer next door. The problem is that it's illegal to confront him and accuse him so I guess we have to wait till it happens again and go "inquire" whether or not he knows anyone who's got a bb gun or seen/heard anything. The only reason why we think it's him is because the people who use to live at my house told us that he use to shoot squirrels and shit with a bb gun quite often.

why is it illegal? to accuse him maybe.. but you can at least go the cops and say... i know for a fact ( even if you dont they'll be more likely to take it seriously) that guy has a bb gun and my cat got shot .. i would like someone to at least tell the guy. if he does it again i'm pressing charges... i had to call the cops once and tell them something about an ex harassing me... they didn't make a report or anything they just called him and said if he didn't cut the shit he was going to jail... some .. and i repeat SOME cops are cool like that... but it's worth a shot..

It's illegal only because confronting him in accusation could come off (from his perspective) as a threat and threatening someone is illegal. That's why it's kind of a shitty situation, the old timer can easily say that he 'felt' threatened and bamo! we're the ones in trouble. I guess he has got a lot of pull around here as I have heard him referred to as "the self-proclaimed mayor of N. Chelmsford".
