Also, I think the LAST thing the boston metal scene needs is a good venue in the 'shows all the time' sense.
You might think that, but that's what hardcore though before Romans.
Romans is a cool venue with shows every friday, but the thing is, since there are shows in brockton EVERY friday, whenever local bands play there it's hard to turnout more than 70 people. The reason is because everyone in that scene has been to brockton so many times and seen the bands that play there so many times that it slowly looses it's appeal.
Boston needs a venue that has a show about twice a month, and books a good out of state headliner. The venue would need to be very consistant with schedualing, all ages, and would need good promotion. Venues leave promotion up to the bands to much. That would mean people wouldn't lose interested in going to the venue like if it had shows multiple times a week, there would be better turnouts, the bands would get paid well, and it would be over all more unifying.
Bands also need to play fewer shows. Alot of bands are like "we want to play every weakend, as many shows as possible, ect". It's very important for bands to schedual their shows in balance. If you play 7 nights a week every week, who the hell is going to come out and see if you if they already have 90000 times?
Under those conditions, Massachusetts bands would flourish instead of struggling to keep there head above water with 9 million other bands every weakend.
Again. Just a theory.
