"why the fuck should you care about the bands' opinions or messages? "

I probably put at least 35 hours a week into my show booking/record label. Its more or less a third part time job for me. Considering all the work I put into it, why would I want to pomote and pay bands that I dont see eye to eye with? I'm not saying you have to be my best friend, but if I spent all this time flyering and finding venues just to have a band spout ignorant shit I'd be pretty fucking insulted. In most cases putting a band on a bill is a favor, as I hardly make any money at this, and the least they can do is respect the space they are playing in. (in this case a community center)

For the record I'm all for letting out aggression and anger with music, but there's no excuse for ignorance and idiocy. I'm not "battling" words, I'm more so offering alternatives. You can go anywhere in MA hear kids rant about homophobic/sexist/racist bullshit, but why not try something different and run shows where people of all walks of life feel welcome. Also, If I offer a band a show, that doesn't mean I'm "forcing" values onto them. You don't have to play this show if you don't want to.

I know your not starting shit and im all for talking about this stuff. If you want to talk more in person thats totally cool. I'm not sure what the valid stance is behind words that seriously hurt people, but hey, we can chat.

Also, I normally email all the bands and let them know about my thoughts on shows and this kind of stuff, but this was so last minute I didn't think of it. Hopefully things run well none the less.
